National Glider Winch Academy 2009

Rocky Mountain Region

NFA-GLI09-Colorado

This page is a "work in progress", so come back often for updates.  Last update was on June 03, 2009.

Cadet Slotting has been announced.  You should have received an email from both National CAP and us with instructions.  If uncertain please log into your EServices account and check your status.

If you are coming to this Academy, your payment and paperwork MUST be received no later than April 15, 2009 or you will loose your slot and it will be offered to an Alternate.

The Rocky Mountain Region, sponsored by The Colorado Wing, is providing a very unique Glider experience this year, a WINCH ACADEMY.

Academy location -- Owl Canyon Gliderport - Colorado Soaring Association - Colorado

Academy length -- Two weeks

Dates: July 11, 2009 - arrival, through July 26, 2009 - departure.

Number of Cadets:  20
Number of Seniors:  Change - No Senior Students

Fee: $1,000 per Cadet Student -- Paid directly to National CAP -- includes meals, lodging and flight training supplies/costs, as needed.  Does NOT include transportation to/from the Academy and any additional Cadet expenses.

Even thought this is a Regional Academy, it is sponsored by National CAP.  All cadets will receive NCSA credit.

Just because this is a RMR Regional Academy does not mean you must be in Region RMR.  All areas are welcome.

Important Note: The maximum fully clothed weight limitation of a student is 230#s.

Hosted will be an Advanced Academy for up to 20 Cadets.  Primary Cadet instruction will also be provided filling any unused Advanced Cadet slots up to the 20 count.  All Cadet students must be age 14 by July 11th, 2009.

The Winch portion of this Academy will teach and provide all the requirements, ground school and flight time needed towards getting your Glider Winch launch endorsement.   All courses are taught by winch current FAA certified instructors.  Winch course completion and passing the needed tests will gain you a winch logbook endorsement.
